Andhra Pradesh Launches State-Level Chess League
The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh recently launched a major state-level chess league that attracted young players from all districts. Students and chess enthusiasts from Tadipatri are also expected to participate in upcoming tournaments and selection events. Officials revealed that thousands of players attended district-level trials before qualifying for the state competition. The league includes Under-13, Under-15, Under-17, and Under-19 categories for boys and girls. Andhra Pradesh chess legend Koneru Humpy extended her wishes to participants during the launch event. Sports officials explained that the initiative is designed to encourage strategic thinking and competitive sportsmanship among youth. Coaches from Anantapur district praised the government for supporting mind sports like chess. Schools in Tadipatri are reportedly planning special chess coaching sessions for interested students. Parents are encouraging children to take part in indoor sports competitions and tournaments. The new chess league is expected to improve Andhra Pradesh’s presence in national-level chess events.
